Castell de Bendinat is one of the most characterful venues on Mallorca’s south-west coast: a privately-owned 19th-century neo-Gothic castle, featuring courtyards, reception rooms, gardens and terraces overlooking the sea, reserved for weddings, private events and very specific celebrations. For a wedding at Castell de Bendinat with such high standards, LoMusic took charge of the entire technical and staging production, from the sound system for the ceremony to the lighting for each of the receptions, both indoors and outdoors.
This project brings together many of the technical resources we usually work with, combined in a very distinctive way: structures designed to create a specific visual effect, decorative lighting integrated into the furniture itself, and a different setting for each time of day.
For the ceremony, we designed a sound system intended to accompany a live piano performance, prioritising the warmth and natural sound of the acoustic instrument over sheer volume, so that the music could be heard throughout the venue without losing any of its nuances.
One of the most unique moments of this production was the cocktail reception. We set up a circular stage directly over the castle’s swimming pool, so that a group of musicians could play live above the water. The result was a very striking visual effect: from the outside, it looked as though the musicians were floating above the pool whilst the live music played.
For the dinner, we designed decorative lighting that was integrated into the table setting itself. We erected large curved supports, covered with white sleeves, which served as the framework for the Carrie, Grace and Brittany lamps – the centrepieces of the dinner décor. We completed the atmosphere with fairy lights, providing a warm, continuous glow throughout the banquet.
The outdoor party area featured a vinyl-covered dance floor, designed specifically for this celebration. The party kicked off with a cold fire effect whilst an artist performed live, signalling a change in the night’s atmosphere. As a visual finale for this space, we projected a gobo featuring the couple’s initials directly onto the façade of Bendinat Castle, turning the castle itself into part of the scenery.
For the indoor party, we erected a nano-truss structure draped in silver curtains, onto which we hung disco balls. The entire lighting design for this space was specifically conceived to play on the flashes created by the disco balls as they reflected off the curtains, creating a party atmosphere very different from that outside.
What makes this project special is not any single element, but the combination of all of them: every space and every moment of the wedding – the ceremony, the cocktail reception, the dinner, the outdoor party and the indoor party – had its own technical and visual identity, coordinated by the same team from start to finish.
