When a festival of the caliber of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest (AMFF) sets out to bring film and music to such unique venues as La Misericòrdia, Ses Voltes, or Es Baluard, it needs more than just sound and lighting equipment: it needs a technical partner capable of supporting the entire infrastructure from start to finish. That is precisely the role LoMusic plays at the AMFF, where we serve as full-service technical producers, promoters, and sponsors of the event.

The AMFF is a hybrid festival that began as Spain’s first online film festival, combining in-person screenings in Palma with an extensive online program via Filmin. Now in its 16th edition, the festival has brought together more than 100 exclusive premieres, industry events, masterclasses, and a program of free concerts in Mallorca—the most extensive in its history—featuring performances by artists such as Nacho Vegas, La Zowi, La Bien Querida, and Leonor Watling, among many others, as well as guests from the world of cinema including Javier Bardem and Rodrigo Sorogoyen.
This combination of film and live music, spread across different venues throughout the city, is exactly the kind of challenge that takes an event from being “big” to being “complex”: it’s not enough to simply set up sound for a stage; you have to coordinate multiple venues simultaneously, each with different technical requirements, on the same dates, while audiences attend both screenings and concerts at the same time.
At LoMusic, we don’t approach the AMFF as just a one-time provider of sound and lighting equipment. Our involvement is comprehensive and takes place on three fronts:
Comprehensive technical production for all venues. We design, install, and operate the sound and lighting systems for the festival venues, tailoring each setup to the architectural and acoustic characteristics of each location. This ranges from designing the PA and monitor systems to creating the lighting design for each stage, coordinating with the artistic teams for each performance, and providing technical management throughout the festival.
Event organizers. Our relationship with the AMFF goes beyond the technical aspects: as promoters, we are part of the structure that enables the festival to reach a wider audience each year and solidify its mission of bringing together film and live music at iconic venues in Palma.
Sponsors. We are actively committed to this project because we believe in cultural events that put Mallorca on the international map, and because the AMFF represents the kind of event that best showcases our capabilities as a sound and lighting company in Mallorca: high technical standards, unconventional venues, and an audience experience that simply cannot fail.
Working at multiple venues for the same festival isn’t just a matter of repeating the same production three times. Each venue has its own set of rules.
As one of the main venues in the festival’s concert program, La Misericòrdia requires a live sound system capable of adapting to a wide variety of artists and formats night after night, while consistently maintaining professional audio quality for both the audience and the musicians on stage. Here, our work focuses on setting up the main PA system, the monitor system for the artists, and a stage lighting design intended to complement each performance while maintaining visual consistency night after night.
Ses Voltes, one of Palma’s most unique heritage sites, presents an added challenge: working in a historic setting requires a technical setup that respects the architecture of the venue without compromising the power and quality of sound and lighting that a festival of this magnitude demands. Here, technical production also becomes an exercise in integration: the equipment must “disappear” visually so that the space remains the focal point.
At Es Baluard, the venue associated with the festival’s cultural and film screening programs, the sound and lighting systems must be adaptable to a variety of uses: film screenings, talks, and events that take place alongside the music program. This requires a flexible technical setup capable of switching from a film screening format to a live event format without compromising on time or quality.
In addition to the sound and lighting for the concerts, we also set up various projection screens and LED screens for the film screenings at this festival. One of the highlights of this production is the NEC NC3200S projector.
This projector is part of the DCI digital cinema ecosystem, which means that movies are not treated as conventional files: the content is received and stored on a digital cinema server, from which it is then sent to the projector for playback. Thanks to this system, movies distributed in DCP format and protected by encryption can be decrypted and played back securely using KDM keys, which authorize playback for a specified period of time.
In addition, it has a brightness of 33,000 lumens and a native 2K resolution, offering high image quality and allowing viewers to enjoy every detail of the festival’s screenings.
Our involvement in the AMFF goes beyond the audiovisual aspect: we’ve also handled the decoration and furnishings for the venues, ensuring that each location has an atmosphere consistent with the festival’s identity and with the experience the audience enjoys in every corner.
One of the clearest lessons learned from projects like the AMFF is what happens when the technical production of a multi-venue event is centralized under a single team: coordination improves, setup times are optimized, and the overall experience is consistent across all venues, even though each one has its own identity.
